Before to define the beverages first we have to know what is beverage?
Beverage is a type of potable drinks that have the quality of thirst- quenching, refreshing, and nourishing properties.
How the beverages are classified?
Beverages are classified into two categories.
- Alcoholic beverages
- Non alcoholic beverages
Alcoholic beverages
Let's first know about alcoholic beverages.
Alcoholic beverages is a type of drinks that contain Ethyl alcohol of o.5% or more that can be termed as alcoholic beverages. In an specific alcoholic drink the percentage of alcohol varies from 0.5-95%. But some alcohol is also use for culinary preparation and also used in preparing of medicines.
Alcohol is colorless and crystal clear spirit that gives a Burnt taste. Some of alcoholic spirit is matured in Oak barrels , because it derives the colour, taste, aroma from the Barrel.
Usually alcoholic drinks is divided into four categories-
- Fermented Drink - Wine, cider, perry
- Brewed and fermented - Beer, sake
- Distilled spirits - Gin, vodka, rum, tequila, whiskey, brandy
- Liqueurs - Advocaat, amaretto, chambord, curacao, drambuie, kahlua, etc

Non alcoholic beverages
None - alcoholic beverages means ,the drink which doesn't contain any alcohol. If the the contain alcohol that should less then 0.5% abv (alcohol by volume). The non-alcoholic beverages is the one of key ingredients which is widely using in making of cocktails and to prepare eye catching mock-tails.
The categories of non alcoholic drinks follows like-
- Tea
- Coffee
- Mock- tail
- Smoothies
- Shakes
- Juice
- Areated drinks
- Squashes
